TANNING TIPS

So, it's not unusual for clients to call needing a last minute tan, and with our busy lifestyles it's sometimes hard to fit everything in, but if you are after the very best results and longer lasting tan, it is highly recommended that you follow these guidelines:

1-2 DAYS LEADING UP TO YOUR TAN

  • For best results, exfoliate and moisturise your body one to two days leading up to your tan.  For Ecotan, be sure to leave at least 24 hours between exfoliating and the time of your spray tan. This will help achieve an even, longer lasting tan.

  • Pay particular attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees, ankles and tops of your toes.

  • Hair removal such as shaving or waxing should be done at least 24 hours prior to your booking.  This will ensure your skin's pores have had time to close and avoid tiny spots occurring

  • Its preferable have your nails and eyebrows done before your tan.  Lashes are best after your tan, but we can work around it if you have just had your lashes done.

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, such as underwear, bikini, G-string, or ladies (only) may wear nothing at all if they prefer.

  • Disposable G-strings and hair nets are available free of charge.

  • You may wish to wear a face mask to avoid inhaling any spray tan mist, which can be removed to spray your face.

  • After your tan has dried it is recommend that you wear dark, loose fitting clothes.

  • You may experience some of the tan rubbing off on your clothes before the tan has been rinsed off. This should easily wash out of most fabrics, however lighter coloured materials, including leather, may stain.

ON THE DAY

  • Remove all traces of moisturiser, deodorant, make-up and perfumes prior to your spray tan, as they can reduce the effectiveness of your spray tan.

  • Pay particular attention to removing all traces of deodorant, as many deodorants react with tanning solution and may result in a green tinge under the arms.

  • After  your spray tan you might like to wait 5 or 10 minutes before dressing to allow the tanning product to dry.  Once it is dry, you can slip on some dark loose clothing.

  • It is recommended not to exercise or carry out any activities that may cause perspiration between the tanning and showering phase.

  • Use an SLS free body wash, or even just water when showering on the day of your tan.

  • When showering it is normal for  the initial bronzer to wash off.  Don't panic! Your tan will still continue to develop after showering for 12-24 hours depending on the product.

  • It's preferable that you leave moisturising your skin until the day after your tan.

AFTER TAN CARE

  • To keep your tan looking great for longer it is recommended you moisturise twice daily.  This will keep your skin in good condition and help the tan to fade evenly.

  • Avoid long baths, spas and swimming sessions, as well as exfoliating products as they will reduce the life of your tan.

REMOVING YOUR TAN

To remove your tan:

  • If possible, prep your skin the night before by rubbing oil, such as massage or olive oil onto the skin.  This will help to soften the skin.

  • The next day soak in a warm bath or shower.

  • Exfoliate your skin by gently massaging the skin using a loofah or tan removing mit and a body scrub.
